The purpose of the Foundation for the Finnish Cancer Institute is to enhance and promote high-quality cancer research in Finland and thus contribute to cancer prevention and treatment. To achieve this, the Institute offers researcher positions focused on different career stages, organizes high-level international symposia and acts as an expert organization in the field of cancer research. The Finnish Cancer Institute was the initiator of the establishment of the National Cancer Center Finland (FICAN). The Institute continues to promote societal debate on the development of cancer care and cancer research in Finland through the Model Country for Individual Cancer Treatment initiative. Since establishment, the Institute has worked in close collaboration with the Cancer Foundation Finland, which funds activities. Today, our other key partner is the K. Albin Johansson Foundation, which funds researcher positions.
